October 2003: MDMA Helps in Marmoset Model of Parkinson's Disease Owing to extensive work on the MDMA/PTSD study, the MDMA literature project has remained on a temporary hiatus. However, we are now posting some milestones and turning points in MDMA research that have occurred during late 2003 and early 2004. In October, 2003, Iravani and colleagues reported that MDMA, given in combination with the dopamine precursor L-DOPA, relieved Parkinson’s-like movement problems in MPTP treated marmosets (Iravani et al. 2003). (MPTP is a dopamine neurotoxin and has been used to produce models of Parkinson’s disease in non-human animals). Full Text of the Paper in PDF form
