September 2003: Retraction
Owing to extensive work on the MDMA/PTSD study, the MDMA literature project has remained on a temporary hiatus. However, we are now posting some milestones and turning points in MDMA research that have occurred during late 2003 and early 2004.
In September 2003, GA Ricaurte retracted his 2002 report of MDMA-induced dopamine toxicity in squirrel monkeys and baboons. It turned out that he had administered methamphetamine, and not MDMA, to all but one of the monkeys.
