Juraj Styk, MD. Juraj and Sonja Styk are members of the Swiss Society of Physicians for Psycholytic Therapy, a group of therapists which in 1988 was granted special permission to work with MDMA and LSD in private practice
(read about it). This permission lasted until the end of 1993, when all psychedelic therapy in Switzerland was forbidden.*
During his talk, A Review of Clinical Issues in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy, Styk described the methods that the group used to conduct "psycholytic" therapy, including the combination of MDMA and LSD. He also addressed what is the role of the sitter. Therapeutic models for working with LSD were established by Hanscarl Leuner in Germany and Grof in the USA. Leuner developed psycholytic therapy, which is the administration of relatively low doses and is practiced mostly in Europe. Grof developed psychedelic therapy, which is the administration of relatively high doses and is practiced mostly in the USA. |
