The Peyote Foundation will provide the facility to develop intensive propagation methods that will help insure the genetic safekeeping of the peyote cactus, the sine qua non of the peyote religion. Because of the scarcity of peyote in the USA, we also seek to establish a land trust in the plant's native habitat of Texas to provide a preserve on which the peyote plant and the traditional peyote pilgrimages could be protected.
The Peyote Foundation will generate greater awareness of the peyote, plant and its sacramental uses. We encourage membership and participation from any interested individuals. We do not promote one religious sect or religion over another. We will not seek to define what a bona-fide peyotist is. We intend to publish a newsletter, establish a library, research and initiate conservation efforts for the genus Lophophora, develop sacramental greenhouses, maintain a membership of supportive individuals and create an educational and inspirational facility.
Through our newsletter and library we will provide information concerning peyote and the peyote religion that is documented, scientifically accurate, and politically neutral. We look forward to working cooperatively with educational and religious entities as well as individual practitioners and researchers who may benefit from our services.
By creating a working example, the Peyote Foundation is assuring a path for future peyote spiritualists. Additionally, we believe harboring peyote to be a religious function in and of itself. Therefore, it will be our blessing and honor to responsibly propagate the sacrament and its spiritual aspects for future generations.
Membership in The Peyote Foundation is available and encouraged, as are donations of time, labor, love and other resources. Your donations support our efforts, including the construction of greenhouses, the publication of PAJ, and the development of the foundation's museum and library. Please contact the Peyote Foundation for a list of specific items that would assist our efforts. The Peyote Foundation has applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. We welcome all comments and inquiries, as well as donations and support.
Thank You.
