I'd sure be interested in taking part in such an organization. Perhaps, as
people have mentioned, some MAPS subgroup could be formed.

I completely agree with the advice of Jon Frederick in this e-mail, although
I still like the idea for such a 'society'. This society may even be helpful
to make sure that all the students will stay interested in this field of
research. So here's another willing member!

very good =)

it looks like we have enough of us interested in this project to give it a
go.

now, the fundamental question.....where do we start?

i think it would be ideal if we could have a section of the website, i
have some technical knowhow and would be more than willing to offer my
time. so, what would be the first thing we'd need to do?

Not certain who here is on the list, but there's a list called the Indole
Ring that Tom Roberts started for students interested in Psychedelic
Research. Probably a good home base, and maybe we could branch out from
there.

Anyone going to be at Society for Neuroscience in November? I'd love to meet you!

In the introduction to an unpublished ms. that is making the rounds and is
primarily an extensive syllabus for my course "Psychedelic Mindview," I
propose the name "Psychedelic Higher Education Association" with the somewhat
distorted (appropriately so?) acronym of "Psychead."

that was actually my original plan....i took a job in computers, with a
nice cushy salary, and lots of fun toys to play with. but i came to the
realisation that i just wasn't happy working in a job that i didn't feel
was important. monitoring network activity just wasn't fulfilling enough
for me. so, now i am poor again, but back in school with a vengence... =)

I am in the same situation as these guys, but I am
finished with undergrad in Biology and have worked and messed around for
about 2 years, am a life long psychadelic voyager, and am ready to get
back into school at the Grad level. I could use any guidance I could
get. I need to find a school soon, hopefully ethnobotany, before I
take off to the Amazon in the spring. As with all these guys (kids)
this is a critical time for our life direction. As a group, we make
up some of the most intellectually gifted college grads to come out these
schools. We could be lawyers or CEO's or psychadelic
researchers.

As for a student forum, I am definitely into
it. There is a lot of talent lost to the other team from lack of
information and opportunities.

P.S. I am planning a 3
month trip to Venezuela and into Brazil to get a feel of the place I think
I want to spend my life so if anybody needs an unpaid research assistant I
am ready to go.
