MAPS: Cogitatiogens,Oneirogens,Hypnagogens,Illusiogens
Some new definitions:
1.Cogitatiogen
A molecule which increases, stimulates,Thought by increasing metabolic
activity of the pre-frontal cortex.
Prototypical cogitatiogenic: psilocine (I add the "e" to conform to the
nomenclature of alkaloids)
Properties:
Cogitatiogenic molecules have anti-dissociative properties in the sense that
they re-associate the left and right brains which have severely dissociated
in most monotheistic societies, thus giving rise to hypertrophy of the left
brain and atrophy of the right brain.
Many psychoses can be traced back to this culturally-mediated dissociation
of the psyche.So,in this sense,cogitatiogens are anti-psychotics.
Cogitatiogens have wrongly been classified,in the past,as
"psychoto-mimetics" but present knowledge about "psychosis" shows that,in
fact,cogitatiogens are anti-psychotics,in a novel sense,because they
INCREASE metabolic activity of the pre frontal cortex while this activity is
DECREASED in schizophrenics (hypofrontality) and,in all of us,every night
while we dream!
2.Oneirogen
A molecule which reproduces the main subjective effects observed in ordinary
or conscious dreaming,as defined by this author (see
http://dog.net.uk/claude for definition).
Prototypical cogitatiogens: ibogaine,salvinorin A,ketamine,yage-caapi
Properties:
Similar as the cogitatiogenics.
3.Hypnagogen [or pre-oneirogen]
A synonymous term with cogitatiogen.Used when putting emphasis on the fact
that the faint images observed with cogitatiogens are merely the same as in
hypnagogic imagery and have nothing to do with real "hallucinations" such as
observed while dreaming.
4.Illusiogen
A molecule which induces the phenomenon of **illiusion** through
"consciousness radiation".
See this term in the url above.
Illusiogens reproduce the true core symptoms of schizophrenia.
Prototypical illusiogen:
Canabis sativa
Probable illusiogen: phencyclidine.
5.Hallucinogen
synonymous for hypnagogen or pre-oneirogen. A prejudiced and uncorrect term
which should
be replaced by hypnagogen and pre-oneirogen.

For those interested in dreaming,I will mention that some of my work can be
found in a newly published book on dreaming (2OO1) by Dr Alan Hobson, from
Harvard University, and published by the M.I.T Press.
