Re: AMT
AMT as MAOI: I asked J. Ott about this aspect of AMT, in early 1999, and he
said AMT is as potent an MAOI as harmine. That's pretty potent, and far
from a theory.

AMT is short for Alpha-methlytrptamine. It is a legal research
chemical, it can be ordered online and sent to you under the basis that it
is a poisonous non-consumable. I have tried it myself. With just 45 mg some
people say that it is too intense and/or freak out. My first time was with
20 mg orally. Slight "speedy" effects were felt and very slight CEV. The
next time I did it, I took 60 mg orally. Slow onset maybe 1:30 maybe even
1:40 and I have a very fast metabolism. I feel the effects of other
ethenogens much quicker like :40 or sometimes as little as :20. On Erowid
it also had theories of AMT being a MAOI. Once coming up it came on very
fast. After about :20 into the trip I was already thinking wow these
hallucinations are pretty intense. When marijuana was also ingested it
seemed to magnify the effects. I too also heard that some people felt an
"e" feeling; like empathy and good body sensations. The people I was doing
it with and I agree that it definitely is not comparable to e in any way.
Odd body sensations were felt by all of us, no empathy but a slight feeling
of connectedness to everything. Felt a lessening at 11:00 and was still
fairly noticeable through 16:00. It has been around for a very long time.
In the 60's it was sold as a anti-depressant in 5 and 10 mg capsules. I an
definitely curious about experimenting with AMT more in the future.
Hope this helps.....
