RE: Help needed on AMT
AMT is alpha-methyltryptamine. AMT is a psychedelic drug related to psilocybin
and LSD. Its also known my the name "IT-290", which was a code number used for
it during scientific research in the 60s.
In recent years, it was available through chemical supply companies. It
developed a little bit of a following. I recommend you head over to Erowid and
read about AMT there... http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/amt
Here's some remarks on the information you were given:
> - 14 hour peak (up to 24 hours on a single pill if we use weed every few
> hours)
AMT is long lasting... longer than LSD by a few hours. A dose of AMT can last
from 12 to 24 hours, depending on how large the dose was.
> - Blowing up much like X
There is a widespread rumor that AMT is similar to ecstasy. This comes from a
misunderstanding of chemistry combined with a healthy dose of wishful
thinking... AMT is alpha-methyl-tryptamine, while amphetamine is
alpha-methyl-phenethylamine. Chemically, this makes AMT the tryptamine analog
of amphetamine. Pharmacologically, this means almost nothing. Since ecstasy is
often referred to as a "psychedelic amphetamine" and since AMT is mistakenly
thought to be an amphetamine-like psychedelic... some misguided kids have
inferred this to mean that AMT is like ecstasy. This isn't true though... AMT
is an LSD-like psychedelic. The power of suggestion is a major factor here of
course.

I'm not sure what they mean by "doses"... AMT is usually sold as a powder, not
pills. Doses are usually in the 25-75mg range, with 50mg probably being
"standard" (so much as there are standards).

Well, in my experience and that of many others, AMT is an LSD-like psychedelic
that lasts way too long and produces a vaguely uncomfortable set of physical
side effects (mild nausea mostly). Many people love it, but I'm definately not
among them. Also, AMT isnt nearly as well studied as LSD or MDMA, so there are
the risks of the unknown.
