MAPS: Replacing Fear With Facts: Are You Past Your 90 Day Free Trial?
Please see
http://www.maps.org/memsub.html
If you're past your 90 day free trial period, I have some good news.
The end of the 90 free trial period is not enforced! In fact, we have
never removed a subscriber for non-payment of membership fees in the
two year history of the forum. We simply believe that the educational
and social value of the forum is too important to deprive anyone just
because they cannot or will not pay for a membership.
However, MAPS is the only membership-based organization that is
supporting psychedelic and medical marijuana research. If you
have subscribed to MAPS-Forum for more than three months, then you
probably appreciate how crucial this research is for the cultural
reintegration of these medicines and the states of mind they engender.
MAPS and its membership played a central role in creating the
rennaissance in psychedelic research that is occuring today, after
twenty years of being effectively banned by government regulations.
Join us-- your financial support is need to translate hard-won
scientific freedom into new research results and possibilities. Please

If we don't commit to sponsoring research to heal our culture's bias
against psychedelics, who will?
Information about the Multidisciplinary Association for
Psychedelic Studies
OUR VISION
The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a
membership-based non-profit research and educational organization founded
in 1986. We assist scientists and researchers to design, obtain
governmental approval for, fund, conduct and report on research into the
healing and spiritual potentials of psychedelics and marijuana.
With sound research results, psychedelic psychotherapy and medical
marijuana research have the potential to help millions of people in
alleviating the pain, psychological distress and other symptoms of such
illnesses as cancer, AIDS and addiction.
HOW MAPS HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE
MAPS has disbursed over a quarter of a million dollars to worthy research
projects since 1990:
-- Assisting Dr. Donald Abrams to obtain permission for the first human
studies of the therapeutic use of marijuana in 15 years, and to secure a
grant of nearly $1 million from the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
-- Donating over $46,000 to research projects investigating the use of
psychedelic psychotherapy in the treatment of substance addiction.
-- Assisting Dr. Charles Grob to obtain permission for the first human
studies in the United States with MDMA after it was criminalized in 1985.
-- Opening an FDA Drug Master File for MDMA. This is required for any drug
before it can be legitimately researched in the U.S.
-- Publishing the first follow-up study of Swiss research into the
therapeutic use of MDMA and LSD, originally undertaken from 1988 to 1993.
-- Conducting a pioneering study of the effects of water pipes and
vaporizers in filtering marijuana smoke.
-- Sponsoring the first non-governmental study to analyse U.S. street
samples of "Ecstasy" (or MDMA).
-- Supporting long-term follow-up studies of pioneering research with LSD
and psilocybin from the 1950s and 60s.
Albert Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
If you can even faintly imagine a cultural reintegration of the use of
psychedelics and the states of mind they engender, please join MAPS in
supporting the expansion of scientific knowledge in this area. Progress
is only possible with the support of individual who care enough to take
individual and collective action.
