MAPS: People article correction!

Here is the message I just received from Dr. Fahn regarding the statement
about MDMA causing Parkinson's that was attributed to him in this week's issue
of People.

"There are many, many errors in that article. I've never mentioned
MDMA, and I've not mentioned Ecstasy. It's possible that I mentioned
MPTP, so the writer merely got it wrong. Why they never checked the
story with me, I don't know. But I understand that this is quite
common for many lay magazines. I have no information about MDMA and
parkinsonism. There are so many errors in the article, including the
basic, consistent misspelling of levodopa, that to write them to
point out the errors would require a rewrite of the entire article.
Based on the audience for this magazine, the editors would simply say
it is not a science publication, and scientists would not quote from
this source."
