MAPS: FW: 2cb negative media reports
Hi there. I am looking for hard data after reading a soft media report
The local newspaper has published an article on new drugs, and included 2cb,
which has some popularity on the local rave scene (Cape Town, South Africa).
The claims made for 2cb's negative effects are as follows:
"At high doses (24mg), people experience extreme depersonalisation. Intense
hallucinations can cause irrational and dangerous behaviour, especially if
mixed with LSD or "speed" (amphetamines)
The danger of death by overdose is unlikely, although mixing nexus with
other drugs could prove lethal. Psychological damage caused by regular use
may be irreversible."
Can anyone comment on the validity or possible sources for these claims?
Also, is there any possible neurotoxicity from 2CB, or is this in the same
category as the "LSD causes brain damage and chromosome damage" rubbish? LSD
is thought to precipitate latent mental illness - is there any suggestion
that 2cb can play the same role?
My experience, in observing several 2cb users, some of whom have taken 2cb
on a weekly basis for 2 years or more, is that there were no adverse
long-term physical affects, and no adverse long-term psychological effects,
unless you count ongoing study in tertiary education :)
I am still somewhat fascinated by the idea that 2cb is banned because of,
not in spite of, it's relative harmlessness. If it was legal people would
get used to the idea of recreational hallucinogens.
