About two to three years ago, alpha-methyltryptamine (IT290) became very
popular in the Boulder/Denver area. Several pounds worth was distributed
under the name IT290 or AMT, but I never heard of anyone getting it under
the assumption that it was MDMA or an analog. From what I remember, it was
being called
Anti-Standamine by a large group of Boulder users due to it's proclivity
towards gently urging the user to lie on the ground. Anyway, when I left
the area (almost two years ago) it was gaining popularity as a mixer drug,
used to "enhance" the MDMA and LSD experience. It certainly would come as
no surprise, however, that some unscrupulous raver may be touting it as
"X."
