MAPS: Journal of ethnopharmacology

Hi Forum,

Does anyone know anything about this article which i was
alerted to. The library here does not stock this journal
and before i treck to the British Library I was wondering
if anyone out there could help i.e abstracts, findings,
methodology,URL etc etc..

(4) TI: Ayahoasca: an experimental psychosis that mirrors the
          transmethylation hypothesis of schizophrenia
      AU: Pomilio_AB, Vitale_AA, CiprianOllivier_J, CetkovichBakmas_M,
          Gomez_R, Vazquez_G
      JN: JOURNAL OF ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY, 1999, Vol.65, No.1, pp.29-51

I'm intrigued because it seems that human models of
'psychosis' utilising entheogenic/psychedelic compunds are
slowly beginning to emerge from the literature after a
rather prolonged sleep. Endogenous production of
hallucinogens is something I'm very interested in since
reading about James Callaway's PhD work on the pineal
gland.
I know most attention has been on the
non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonists but it seems now
that any compound producing a profound non-ordinary state
of consciousness is being used in this manner.
'Psychotomimetic' use may become the norm in mainstream
literature rather than the explorative use.....

Thanks

Harry
