DEAR ANDY AND MAPS:
I am responding to the inquiry about early spinal atrophy and the
'fasciculation's' - muscles twitches and jumps that are, evidently, the last
movements of perishing anterior horn cells."
I am a yoga therapist, yoga teacher and trainer of yoga teachers, have a large
center in Montclair, NJ and have extensive experience with natural "medicine"
and the spine. I had suffered from a cerebral/spinal fluid virus (3 years) and
a herniated disc and attribute much of my healing to natural "medicine":
ayahuasca, San Pedro, etc. If one looks at the above mentioned psychedelic
drugs from an energetic point of view; one finds a drying syndrome which
radically affects the synovial fluid within the casement of the spine DRYING
IT OUT, causing the loss of space and energy therefore forcing the
"fasciculation's". (More predominantly with MDMA, AND LSD). There seems
almost to be a spasming of the 'fasciculation's' in fear of loss of function.
This will continue unless there is moisture and space created to open the
fluid channel-----the shushumna nadi--within the spinal cord. YOGA DOES THIS!
Think of the energy and spirit of San Pedro: strong, tall, upright, yielding
without being rigid, able to go for long periods of time without water. In my
experience, Ayahuasca will naturally go to the place within the body it is
most needed for physical healing (if the host is "ready/prepared" and
intention is set AND the spirit of the Great Grandmother Vine deems it
necessary. It is also useful to do a yoga practice while bonding with the
medicine and journeying.
I hope this helps.
