Media > Rare Video of Woman in 1950s LSD Experiment

By: Brooke Baldwin

CNN

CNN's Brooke Baldwin speaks with freelance journalist Don Lattin about his discovery of a rare video from the 1950s of a woman participating in a government-run LSD experiment. Lattin discusses the long history of investigations into the therapeutic potential of LSD, in particular its possible effectiveness for addiction treatment. The video also highlights how LSD may help enable spiritual awakenings--and thus the possibility for healing--even in people who aren't necessarily religious. Lattin is the author of The Harvard Psychedelic Club: How Timothy Leary, Ram Dass, Huston Smith, and Andrew Weil Killed the Fifties and Ushered in a New Age for America.
