Memorandum of Understanding Between

MAPS, Clusterbusters, and Dr. R. Andrew Sewell

January 29th, 2007

1.              Dr. Sewell will work on a study sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and Clusterbusters to gather information about the response of cluster headache to lysergic acid amide-containing seeds (Hawaiian baby woodrose, morning glory, and Rivea corymbosa).

2.              The study will be funded by MAPS.

3.              This study will be essentially identical to another study that was initially approved by the McLean IRB but which was terminated on December 31st, 2006, with the exception of additional protections for subject data. The study will resume once approval from an external IRB has been obtained. MAPS will pay the fees required for resubmission.

4.              MAPS will pay Dr. Sewell a salary of $1000 a month, beginning in January 2007 through and including August 2007, to work on obtaining IRB approval for the study and then to work on the LSA study itself.

5.              If IRB approval as not been obtained by the end of March 2007, this Memorandum of Understanding is no longer in force and another will need to be written.

6.              The protocol is to be posted on the MAPS website once it is approved.

7.              Dr. Sewell shall share any data with MAPS or the Clusterbusters within two weeks of any request for such data, with the exception of the removal of personal identifiers as mandated by the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

8.              Dr. Sewell will write a paper documenting the response of cluster headache to LSA based on data obtained in the LSA study and submit it for publication. If the LSA study is not completed by the end of September 2007, Dr. Sewell write the paper and
submit it for publication as soon as possible after that date without receiving additional compensation for the study.

9.              Dr. Sewell can publish the data he gathers in any forum he chooses, without having to obtain prior approval from either MAPS or Clusterbusters.

10.           Dr. Sewell will retain the right to approve news releases regarding the study.
